James Gholson

James Herbert Gholson (1798 – July 2, 1848) was a nineteenth-century congressman, lawyer and judge from Virginia.
==Biography==
Born in Gholsonville, Virginia, Gholson pursued in an academic course and graduated from Princeton College in 1820. He studied law and was admitted to the bar, commencing practice in Percivals, Virginia. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1824 to 1828 and again from 1830 to 1833 and was elected an Anti-Jacksonian to the United States House of Representatives in 1832, serving from 1833 to 1835. Afterwards, Gholson served as a judge of the circuit court for the Brunswick circuit for many years before his death on July 2, 1848 in Brunswick County, Virginia.
